Lomo Instant!

Posted by tb4

With Polaroid instant dead I've been waiting for someone, anyone, to take up the mantle of the instant photography king. Now someone has finally come forward to fill that void. The Diana F+ Instant Back is an attachment that snaps onto the back of the lomography cameras and takes Fujifilm Instax Mini film. Anyone who loved the Polaroid instant film cameras should definitely look into getting this set up. The only real draw back is the price of the Fujifilm Instax Mini film, coming in at $15 for 10 shots, it is over a dollar a shot. But Polaroid film was just as expensive so it may not be that big of a draw back to the Polaroid lovers out there.

The Diana Instant back+ was developed by Lomography Japan. It’s the first, and only, time the Fujifilm Instax Mini format has been used in this innovative way! You’ll be pleased to know, Fujifilm Instax Mini is in constant production and easily available for your Diana Instant Back+ adventures on shop.lomography.com!

Callie Shell

Posted by tb4

"It was primary morning in New Hampshire. Barack and Michelle Obama had been campaigning separately all week. In the first few months of 2008 their private time seemed to consist of a few crossover moments in back hallways before rallies. This moment was rare and you could tell they just loved being able to sit together. Jan. 8, 2008."
"Two staffers had just passed this site and done two pull-ups. Not to be outdone, Obama did three with ease, dropped and walked out to make a speech. Missoula, Mont., 4/5/2008."
"Waiting: Obama listens from a back stairwell as he is introduced in Muscatine, Iowa. It was his second or third speech of the day. Unlike many of the politicians I have photographed in the past, I find it is easy to get a photograph of Obama alone. He lets his staff do their jobs and not fuss over him. Nov. 7, 2007."
Time photojournalist Callie Shell's photos of presidential candidate Barack Obama give us an intimate look into his bid to become the next president. All the photos are great, they chronicle his run from the democratic national convention till now, and they give everyone a look at some of the standard campaign moments, but my favorites are the more behind the scenes photos, I put a few of them above. Check out all the photos over at digitaljournalist.org, they are definitly worth the time it takes to check them all out.

Joshua Hoffine

Crazy good photography from Missouri based artist Joshua Hoffine. Joshua work is just sick, in a good way, I love that the photoshop elements don't stand out in the photo, they just mesh with the whole feeling of the piece. Each of his pieces are just so well composed and thought out, they all work so well, and with Halloween coming up it is the perfect time to check out Joshua's work. Check out a few more of his pieces below and the link to his full portfolio below that.

Alphabet Shoot

Posted by tb4

Oli from olimax.com shot me an interesting email today about Alphabet Shoot. What is Alphabet Shoot you ask, well on the 31st of August 2008 about 60 individuals gathered at The Victoria, Mornington Terrace, London to have their portraits taken, based on letters of the alphabet. All this was accomplished over the course of one splendid Sunday afternoon. Seems like a fun little project, you can check out all of the artwork from the book over at olipix.com, enjoy.

Meg Watcher

Fantastic photos by Brooklyn based photographer Meg Watcher. The photos above are from the "dumped" series, I'm really wondering how she got anyone to pose for these photos. Although I'm sure it was a whole lot of fun taking these photos, I would love to start dropping food on people heads, all for the sake of art. Check out the rest of Meg's photos at her portfolio, linked below.

Nick Veasey

Very cool x-ray photography from British artist and photographer Nick Veasey. Nick Veasey uses x-ray technology to create mesmerizing and intriguing art. In a world obsessed with superficial appearance it is a refreshing change to be able to look beyond the surface. Beauty, after all, comes from within. Check out all of his work over at his portfolio, linked below.

Jessica Hosman

Posted by tb4

Massachusetts based photographer and artist Jessica Hosman sent me her work a bit ago, I seriously need to go through my email more often. She has been working on a very interesting project lately, she shoots an entire roll of film of a specific subject, then rewinds it back into the canister and begins shooting the roll again, this time with a different subject matter. So, for example, Jessica might go outside and shoot a roll of nature shots, then rewind the canister, put it back in the camera, and shoot a roll of studio self-portraits on top of it. This creates multiple-exposure images inside the camera, which may or may not line up with each other, depending on how the film loads the second time around. Sometimes days, weeks, or months go by between shooting each layer of images. All of these factors create images that appear completely random, but in fact, have a lot to do with process, organization, and the choices made after the film is developed. Check out the rest of her work at her portfolio linked below.

Impossible Bookshelf

Posted by tb4

Obviously not real at all, just a photoshoped version of a real shelf, found on flickr. I think this would make for a pretty cool real shelf, with all the curves and different sized cubbies it would be awesome to have in any house. This really reminds me of the Dust furniture collection from artist Vincent Thomas Leman.

Andrew Zuckerman

Andrew Zuckerman's photography is absolutely breathtaking. The composition, the look, everything about this is fantastic, as you can tell I really like his work. The high speed shots he does are a lot of fun, and the landscape shots are beautiful. My favorites by far are the animal shots, I've had a chance to check out some of his creature book the shots are just wonderful. Go check out the creature photo shoot video after the jump it is pretty cool. I may have to go pick this book up for my little nephew he loves the animals, I guess I'll just have to hope he doesn't try to eat it, he tries to eat everything so there is little hope for that.

So coffe is a wonderful thing especially when you drop a bit of creame in it and shoot it with a high speed camera.
