Poster Inspiration: Blog Wars

Posted by tb4

Great poster by Chicago based designer Mig Reyes for blog wars. Mig designed a non-traditional club poster to promote Blog Wars, a gathering of Chicago's top dance music DJs—who all happen to run (very successful) blogs. This approach utilizes a custom crafted logo that parallels the flow and feel of vinyl records, all while maintaining a very classic and swiss aesthetic. Check out the 3 other color variations of this poster over at Mig's site.

Bonnaroo

Posted by tb4

Brand new poster from Minnesota based Burlesque of North America. This is a fantastic poster for all of you kids out there that endured the rain and heat of Bonnaroo this year. Check out what the designers had to say about the poster below, and see some detail shots here.

Designing for Bonnaroo is always an interesting challenge in that there are dozens upon dozens of band names to include. This makes prominently featuring any of the artists difficult, so, having designed three other Bonnaroo posters, we usually push the band names off to the side or the bottom and let some kind of type or imagery take center stage. This year I wanted to try to make the bands jump out and be the stars of the poster and came up with the idea to represent each group with an illustrated icon. Some of them are literal (David Byrne’s white jacket), some are inside jokes that only fans of the band will know (Phish’s vacuum cleaner), some are references to song titles (Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Gold Lion”), and others just came to mind when thinking about the artist (an anvil for the American musical workhorse Bruce Springsteen… THE BOSS).

Words To Work By

Posted by tb4

The ad agency Publicis Mojo in Sydney has created a set of six posters, they are designed as resolutions, and poke fun at some of the clichés we all come across in the industry. They’re a limited edition print run of 100, some as lithographs and some as screen prints. They sent them out to their friends, clients and colleagues, as a crafted hello more than anything else. Luca Ionescu, from Like Minded Studio, worked closely with Publicis Mojo to bring the lines to life in a way that felt appropriate and fresh. Check out the rest of the posters at crblog.

Ink and Wit

Posted by tb4

This animal poster from Ink and Wit has to be just about the perfect poster for any little kids room. The 16x20 poster is printed on 100% post consumer recycled paper, with soy inks, packaged in a recycled kraft tube mailer. You can get the poster over at Ink and Wit for $60. Now a bit about Ink and Wit below.

Early experiences of my native New England state of Connecticut influenced my love of weathered materials on the shore in addition to coastal birds walking amidst thin brushes of seaweed and sticks. In addition, the diversity of New York City, being only an hour away from home, opened my eyes to a larger scale of proportions and grandeur. I have a loving appreciation for nature's intricate beauty combined with modern urban style. I see the world as organic and bright.

We letterpress and offset print all of our paper products. We utilize 100% cotton paper made from tree free fibers along with 100% post consumer recycled paper. Ink is soy and water based.

All illustration and design for INK+WIT is created by Tara Hogan.

INK+WIT has participated in Domino Magazine's Holiday Bazaar, featured in eco fashion designer Linda Loudermilk's swag bags, and written about in Yoga Journal.
