I am really digging these vintage Coke cans. It would be really cool if Coke when back through all of their old designs and started bringing them all back out. Check out the full gallery over at inspiredology.com.

"Grass" designed at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, Israel, in 2009. Designed to bring more nature indoors.
The squares of grass were originally inspired by Frank Loyd Wright’s Fallingwater and how Wright continually strove to connect architecture and nature. All of the packaging for the squares is made completely from recycled materials. Openings on the corners of the package let the grass breathe and help give it a longer shelf life.
All of this is via Inhabitat, they didn't include the link to the designer in their post. So if anyone has a link to the designer throw it in the comments so I can get a link up here.

Great bit of sustainable design and a winner of a green dot award, for excellence in green products. 60BAGs are a great, I would love to see these at my local grocery store.
60BAGs are the perfect natural answer to the environment's needs. They are biodegradable carrier bags made out of flax-viscose non-woven fabric. Its materials was scientifically developed and manufactured in Poland. The flax-viscose fabric is produced with flax fiber industrial waste, which means it doesn't exploit any natural resources and requires minimal energy during its production. This highly innovative technology enable the bags to naturally decompose approximately 60 days after being discarded, which means they don't require expensive recycling or disposal in landfills.

Beautiful package design from Georgia based graphic designer Joel Nilsen. For an academic project it is a beauty, check out a bit about the project below with a few more images below that. Make sure you scroll to the bottom for the portfolio links.
"In the realms of both fine dining and home cooking there is an increasing desire to return to more traditional, time consuming, and fresh preparations for food. I have designed sustainable packaging for a fresh herb garden starter kit. The kit will include, seed germinating pads, potting soil, organic fertilizer, herb snips, a fresh herb storage flask, identifying markers, and a growing care / recipe booklet. There is minimal wasted packaging. The boxes are made from screen printed wood and function as planters when they are unpacked. The shredded stuffing is biodegradable and can be mixed with the soil for growing herbs. Also, the cover for the seeded pods is perforated and can be broken down into markers for each potted herb."

I just really love this packaging design from San Fransisco based graphic designer Robert Medkeff. The GSI logo is wonderful, I love the font and the text treatment. Seriously though, Giant Squid Ink, how could you go wrong. Check out a few more shots of the packaging and the portfolio link under that.

Very nice packaging design from Croatian designer Mico Samardzija. The packaging is done for a set of flavored pastas, I rather enjoy the cheese one. Although I'm not really sure what is going on with the chilly one, I think it is supposed to be chili, that would make more sense. Check out the rest of the photos and the link to Mico's portfolio after the jump.

Ruben Trelles just sent me some photos of his latest t-shirt and package design work. Ruben considers himself an embroidery artist, but he also has some great package design skills. I love the embroidered top of the package tin, it really brings the shirt and the package together. Really fun work from Ruben Trelles, you can see the shirt below and there is a link to his portfolio and shop below that.

The San Francisco based design house, Office collaborated with 826 Valencia, a non profit tutoring center for youth, to reinvigorate its pirate supply storefront. They developed the store's new identity, and conceptualized and designed nearly 50 new products. They did an absolutely spectacular job on the whole project. I love when advertising agencies go pro-bono on work and actually do a bang up job and not half ass the whole thing. "Office has produced some of the most ravishing and funny buccaneer supplies yet know to man," said Dave Eggers, 826 Valencia Founder. Reflecting the store's wildly imaginative experience, the products represent 826's mission to support creative expression. A few more of the new pieces can be seen below and the link to Office below that.

Awesome product design for Stanley Honey from the ad agency The Partners and creative directors Dana Robertson and Tony De St. Croix. I love the reusable nature of this, it is great for the environment and for the company because every time you look at the pot you are reminded of the company.

So Samantha Wiley got back to me the other day and sent me some of her work. She sent over some really well done art prints she did for Anheuser-Busch. So after I saw these I learned that she is not just a talented package designer, but also a talented illustrator and all around artist. I'm sure this is not the last we will hear from this designer, check out the rest of her work at her portfolio linked below.

Really nice packaging design from Atlanta based designer Anwar Pack for the Mister Nesbit grooming kit. The grooming kit is made to have an old school feel but still appeal to a more youthful audience. Anwar designed and constructed all the packaging, upholstering it all in suede and nue-buck leather. Solid design with nice clean lines throughout the entire piece, I would love to carry this with me on trips. If only I knew how to use a straight razor, I think I would do a lot more harm than good to myself with that.

Lovely package design by San Fransisco based designer Allie Packard for M&J Cookie Mix. Great outer box to go along with some fun colorful cookie mix packages inside. I think you could give this as a present without even wrapping, although I think my wife would disagree with me on that, she says you have to wrap everything.
