A great set of shots from the US president elect Barak Obama, from New York based photographer and art director Rinze van Brug. A bit about the photographer below and then the links to his portfolio below that.
"Rinze van Brug began his love of art at a young age. With inspiration from movies such as BEAT STREET and WILD STYLE Rinze's artistic approach blossomed. Drawing and then graffiti were the first methods of expression for Rinze and he worked commercially while in Amsterdam creating art murals for stores and restaurants while continuing his personal art as well.brug
At 19, Rinze purchased his first Macintosh computer and began exploring new programs such as Painter, which allows users to develop their own art work in a much shorter time span. Learning these computer programs escalated the extent of artwork Rinze could achieve. Able to finish projects in one hour that would have taken weeks, Rinze was able to explore new genres of art.
During art school Rinze excelled in graphic design and photography graduating to enter the advertising world. At Ogilvy he worked with clients such as Philips, Canon, Mercedes, Red Bull, and many other Fortune 500 companies as an art director. To work through his ideas with clients he would sketch out pictures of how he wanted the photography to look and, in doing so, realized his calling was photography and design.
Much of Rinze's inspiration comes from music that helps him to continuously mold his personal style. With new music consistently hitting the scene Rinze utilizes the fusion of music, life and art in his photography. Rinze has worked with high end fashion companies and at Fashion Week, as well as portfolio work and editorial, to documentary and integrated art styles. Each photograph shows Rinze's ability to capture the moment, the pose, or the scene as he brings each photograph to life."

"It was primary morning in New Hampshire. Barack and Michelle Obama had been campaigning separately all week. In the first few months of 2008 their private time seemed to consist of a few crossover moments in back hallways before rallies. This moment was rare and you could tell they just loved being able to sit together. Jan. 8, 2008."

"Two staffers had just passed this site and done two pull-ups. Not to be outdone, Obama did three with ease, dropped and walked out to make a speech. Missoula, Mont., 4/5/2008."

"Waiting: Obama listens from a back stairwell as he is introduced in Muscatine, Iowa. It was his second or third speech of the day. Unlike many of the politicians I have photographed in the past, I find it is easy to get a photograph of Obama alone. He lets his staff do their jobs and not fuss over him. Nov. 7, 2007."Time photojournalist Callie Shell's photos of presidential candidate Barack Obama give us an intimate look into his bid to become the next president. All the photos are great, they chronicle his run from the democratic national convention till now, and they give everyone a look at some of the standard campaign moments, but my favorites are the more behind the scenes photos, I put a few of them above. Check out all the photos over at digitaljournalist.org, they are definitly worth the time it takes to check them all out.

Crazy good photography from Missouri based artist Joshua Hoffine. Joshua work is just sick, in a good way, I love that the photoshop elements don't stand out in the photo, they just mesh with the whole feeling of the piece. Each of his pieces are just so well composed and thought out, they all work so well, and with Halloween coming up it is the perfect time to check out Joshua's work. Check out a few more of his pieces below and the link to his full portfolio below that.

Very cool x-ray photography from British artist and photographer Nick Veasey. Nick Veasey uses x-ray technology to create mesmerizing and intriguing art. In a world obsessed with superficial appearance it is a refreshing change to be able to look beyond the surface. Beauty, after all, comes from within. Check out all of his work over at his portfolio, linked below.

Massachusetts based photographer and artist Jessica Hosman sent me her work a bit ago, I seriously need to go through my email more often. She has been working on a very interesting project lately, she shoots an entire roll of film of a specific subject, then rewinds it back into the canister and begins shooting the roll again, this time with a different subject matter. So, for example, Jessica might go outside and shoot a roll of nature shots, then rewind the canister, put it back in the camera, and shoot a roll of studio self-portraits on top of it. This creates multiple-exposure images inside the camera, which may or may not line up with each other, depending on how the film loads the second time around. Sometimes days, weeks, or months go by between shooting each layer of images. All of these factors create images that appear completely random, but in fact, have a lot to do with process, organization, and the choices made after the film is developed. Check out the rest of her work at her portfolio linked below.

Andrew Zuckerman's photography is absolutely breathtaking. The composition, the look, everything about this is fantastic, as you can tell I really like his work. The high speed shots he does are a lot of fun, and the landscape shots are beautiful. My favorites by far are the animal shots, I've had a chance to check out some of his creature book the shots are just wonderful. Go check out the creature photo shoot video after the jump it is pretty cool. I may have to go pick this book up for my little nephew he loves the animals, I guess I'll just have to hope he doesn't try to eat it, he tries to eat everything so there is little hope for that.

The new volume of mooncruise magazine is out now. Excellent photographs from photographers around the world. I especially enjoyed Martin Sigmund's landscape photographs. I really like his use of lighting it gives some of the pictures almost a spherical look. You can also check out the gallery at mooncruise some really interesting items in the things unique section.
