I don't have any idea who did this, but I just had to put it up because it is so creepy.

Available right now a nice print from artist Alex Pardee, get it from zerofriends.com for $40.
"The Real Batman"
By Alex Pardee
Limited Edition Of 200
17" x 22" Printed with Archival Inks on Acid Free Velvet Cotton Rag
Each print is hand signed and numbered by Alex Pardee
"BATMAN (yah, your favorite masked detective) was originally an ancient mythical cult being whose story was basically about a bat hunter who, in a fit of symbiotic revenge rage, captured the bat that killed his wife and, since he couldn't live without his wife, he wanted to show the bat what it was like to depend on someone else for life and love. So the hunter shoved the Bat onto his head like a mask and forced the bat to remain a part of him. Shortly after, the tables turned and the hunter's foolish attempt at revenge backfired when he suffocated and died. The bat then took over the hunter's body and used his new found appendages and abilities to lead warriors to kill weak people because it was fun. True story."

Awesome skateboard deck created by Ohio-based graphic artist, Oliver Barrett, this incredibly hard to come by limited edition decorative skateboard deck features a pop-arty and oh-so-contemplative Barack Obama at the underside and a red wood-grained top. Hang it like wall art and it'll preside over your living room. And though you'll have to trade sweet jumps for a decorative collector's item, it's an exchange we can believe in. Made in the USA. Wipe clean.
Get this very limited edition skateboard deck over at UrbanOutfitters.com for $68.

Oh man did I have an awesome drive into work today. Last night we had 9 inches of snow dropped on us here in Indianapolis, with another 3 or so that is supposed to fall by noon. The drive home should be exciting.
The photo above is my wife at the very start of the snow fall yesterday afternoon, yeah the driveway was still clear. She got a snow day today so maybe she will be a bit adventurous and go take some photos out in the snow.

Crazy font work from house42, make sure you click on the pictures and see the images in full view, that is the only way you can really see how crazy this font is. The "do not try to read this text" piece would make a cool poster, although it would be very hard to look at. Check out the house42 portfolio linked at the bottom of the post.

There is a brand new print from contemporary artist Josh Keyes available today at the David B. Smith Gallery site. Check out the details below and then a bit about Josh Keyes below that.
Josh Keyes - "The Call I"
Signed & Numbered Edition of 750
Archival Giclee on Embossed Hahnemühle Paper (310 gm weight)
Paper Size 20" x 26.5" with Deckled Edges, $175
Limited Addiction Publishing, 2009
This edition will be available for sale through the 'Editions' web store on the David B. Smith Gallery site at www.davidbsmithgallery.com
It will be released on Tuesday, January 27th at approximately 11 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (Denver, CO).
"Josh Keyes was born in 1969 in Tacoma Washington. Keyes graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and later received his MFA in painting from Yale University. Josh’s work brings to mind the detail and complexity of natural history dioramas, and the color and diagrammatic complexity one might find in cross section illustrations from a vintage science textbook.
His work has developed over the past years into an iconic and complex personal vocabulary of imagery that creates a mysterious and sometimes unsettling juxtaposition between the natural world and the man made landscape. The work also conveys an anxious vision of what the world might be like in the future as a result of current global warming predictions.
Keyes’ interest in creating paintings that fuse realism with the possible often evokes the imagery found in dystopian and post-apocalyptic literature, while other works express the optimism and utopian ideas found in the writings of Buckminster Fuller and Paolo Soleri. Keyes often incorporates objects and animals into his dissected environments that have personal iconographic significance. He weaves his personal mythology through fractured and isolated landscapes that are either overgrown with vegetation or underwater, and often depict historic or military monuments covered with graffiti. The imagery functions as a way for Keyes to express his personal experience and also allows him to comment and interpret events in the world.
His work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibited in galleries in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Denver. Keyes currently lives and works in Oakland California."

Beautiful package design from Georgia based graphic designer Joel Nilsen. For an academic project it is a beauty, check out a bit about the project below with a few more images below that. Make sure you scroll to the bottom for the portfolio links.
"In the realms of both fine dining and home cooking there is an increasing desire to return to more traditional, time consuming, and fresh preparations for food. I have designed sustainable packaging for a fresh herb garden starter kit. The kit will include, seed germinating pads, potting soil, organic fertilizer, herb snips, a fresh herb storage flask, identifying markers, and a growing care / recipe booklet. There is minimal wasted packaging. The boxes are made from screen printed wood and function as planters when they are unpacked. The shredded stuffing is biodegradable and can be mixed with the soil for growing herbs. Also, the cover for the seeded pods is perforated and can be broken down into markers for each potted herb."

"We are excited to introduce the very first Nora Whynot 2009 Calendar. Our labour of love can also be appreciated as separate artworks, ’it’s not just a calendar’.We have produced a limited edition of only 100 screen printed calendars. Printed on recycled boxboard using hand-mixed inks in order to produce an original colour palette.
All 12 months, including the cover and introduction page, were individually printed with up to 4 passes on each print, one of the colours being unique to that month, making all pages exclusive, no two are the same.

Paper Tiger has a brand new print from artist Nathan Ota. The new print is entitled "Touch of Class" and is limited edition of 25 signed and numbered prints. "Touch of Class" is 12x15 printed on textured fine art paper. Each print is $100 and can be purchased here.
About Nathan Ota:
Shortly after graduating in 1993, Nathan started working as a freelance Artist for newspapers, magazines, recording companies, background art for the gaming industry and is currently selling out gallery shows.
From early on, Nathan always found himself drawing pictures over doing his homework, influenced by cartoons, comic books, photographs, and old punk flyers. Nathan's first influences started from looking at his older brother's Frank Frazetta calendars and Vampirella comics. His artist Mother and Father encouraged and supported his love for art from an early age. His love for popular culture led him to graffiti art as a form of expression on various public spaces in Los Angeles in the mid 80s. This influence still permeates his personal work today.

If you don't have your very own Obama "Hope" action figure by now, I highly doubt you will be able to get it by the inauguration tomorrow. But maybe you can record the inauguration telecast and when you get your action figure you can reenact the whole thing right there in your living room.
The Obama Action Figure's latest design is an homage to famed artist Shepard Fairey's iconic red, white, and blue illustrated poster image of Obama that still dots countless shop windows, residential yards. If there is one defining image that this moment in time will be remembered by, the HOPE poster is it.
This edition is limited to 3,000 pieces and will never be produced again. It can be purchased from jailbreak toys for the extremely odd price of $20.09.
Each box has its own unique number stamp-engraved into the cardboard

These mini meal planners from Ohio based designer Stephanie Briones are just perfect. The mini meal planner contains forms designed to make planning your meals as simple as possible. Each one comes with 8 weeks worth of forms,56 days, to get you started. The forms are separated by colorful patterned and solid scrap papers that have been coordinated together.
Mini meal planners measure 2.5" x 4", they are about .5" thick and have rounded corners. The pages are held together with a 1" metal book ring.
They are all sold out right now, but I will have to remember to check back to see when they are available again. My wife asked me to get a white board to help her plan the meals for the week, but I think this would be so much better. They are also small enough to throw in her purse, so she could take them to the store with her.

A great set of posters by Florida based designer/illustrator karen Kurycki. The posters were for the band The Helio Sequence and they were a collaboration with Sean Tucker of Dog & Pony showprints. Check out a few more of the posters below and they portfolio links below that.
Karen Kurycki is an art director/illustrator at The Kurtis Group in Jacksonville Beach. Design is her passion and she loves to combine illustration with design elements in her commercial work. Karen has been experimenting with watercolor since her days at Kent State University, embracing its unpredictability and the surprises that can come out of using it in combination with illustration. She admits that in her view of the world she usually sees the humorous, the quirky, the slightly off normal.

A great piece of internal marketing from the ad agency BBDO New York, USA and art directors Frank Anselmo and Jayson Atienza. This was for their bring your kids to work day, and I think it is a great piece that would really stick in my mind if I worked there.
"Everyone in the company came into work to find their computers vandalized with crayon scribbles. To promote "Bring your kids to work day," childlike art was hand-drawn on acetate sheets, which were trimmed to fit the screens. Building security secretly unlocked over 500 offices the night before so the acetate sheets could be affixed to everyone's computer monitor."Brilliant, just brilliant.
