The Natural Wood Series of Pecanpals, from noferin.com, will be released May 5th. These little guys are just such cute little toys.
Natural Wood Series
Limited to only 300 friends.
Made from 100% wood.
Articulated joints. All individually hand crafted.
Pecanpals are made from 100% sustainably harvested wood. They are made from rubber tree wood that would otherwise go to waste. Rubber trees are planted for their rubber, and after about 20 years, their rubber yields start to diminish. We use this beautiful wood, thus saving it from the fire pit. No two Pecanpals look the same. They all have very unique markings due to the wood grain. Some are spotted, some have a marbled look, some are a mixture of the two.

This has got to be the prettiest set of chocolates I have ever seen. These are a bit expensive for my tastes, at $54 for the small box and $75 for the big box. But if you are looking for a box of chocolates that will make an impression on whoever you give them to, these would be the ones to get.
New York Times' Selection of 10 Best Chocolates
Too beautiful to eat, but your taste buds will thank you! This signature blue and brown box contains one layer of dark chocolates (70% cacao) filled with flavored, creamy ganache and delicately decorated. All MarieBelle chocolate is free of preservatives and made from single-origin cacao beans from Colombia, decorated with miniature works of art painted in cacao butter.

So my lovely wife and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary this past weekend. It was great, she loved the gifts I got her. I stuck with the whole first anniversary theme of paper and got her some art prints off etsy, a pin hole paper camera kit, and some paper so she could do sun prints.
She got me a very cool gift that I have been looking at for a very long time, the Eco Sphere. Mine looks very similar to the one in the photo above. It has 4 little shrimp in it, I have named them Bubba, Gump, Lt. Dan, and Jenny, a whole Forest Gump theme. I know I'm a dork.

There is a great tutorial over at marthastewart.com that will teach you how to build a pretty sweet cardboard cat playhouse. My cat would love this, she would play in it all day long. A small aside to this post, my Mom absolutely hates Martha Stewart, I'm not really sure why but she does. Alright enough of that back to the post, it is a 5 step process and you can download templates for the doors and windows. It seems pretty easy I may have to try this out.

The ad agency Publicis Mojo in Sydney has created a set of six posters, they are designed as resolutions, and poke fun at some of the clichĂ©s we all come across in the industry. They’re a limited edition print run of 100, some as lithographs and some as screen prints. They sent them out to their friends, clients and colleagues, as a crafted hello more than anything else. Luca Ionescu, from Like Minded Studio, worked closely with Publicis Mojo to bring the lines to life in a way that felt appropriate and fresh. Check out the rest of the posters at crblog.

Paper Tiger has just released the newest print from Brian Despain, entitled "The Exiless". Brian set Paper Tiger up with this awesome painting from his ongoing series of robots. While his paintings may just seem like really cool pictures of robots at first glance, there is actually a lot more depth and meaning in each piece. His painterly work retains a dark humor while the colors and atmospheres he creates give a sense of melancholy, stemming from issues in the artists life, and now you can purchase this limited edition 12" x 14.5" print exclusively on Paper Tiger.
Brian attended Eastern Michigan University, earning a BFA in art with a concentration in drawing and psychology. He has held numerous art related jobs over the years but finds the most satisfaction in creating his own imagery. He currently lives with his fiancĂ© and a menagerie of fur in Kirkland, Washington. When asked about this painting, here's what Brian had to say: To me “The Exiles” represents honor and dignity in the face of adversity. An unlikely royal couple stands proud but alone under a tumultuous sky, their crowns, a symbol of their former state, lift from their brows to hover like ghostly halos while dead leaves dance about them on winds of change.

This has got to be one of my favorite advertising campaigns of the year, the Trillion Dollar campaign for the Zimbabwean Newspaper created by TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris. Check the Zimbabwean Newspaper's flickr page for more photos for the campaign. A bit about some of the different pieces of the campaign below, then the press release below that. A big thanks goes out to Nadja for sending this over to me.
Billboard made out of real money
A billboard for ‘The Zimbabwean Newspaper’ made entirely of worthless Zimbabwean bank notes. What more proof do you need of a country’s total economic collapse than being able to paste trillions and trillions and trillions of dollar notes onto a billboard and it is still cheaper than if you had used paper?
Money Wallpaper
A wall mural for ‘The Zimbabwean Newspaper’ made up of worthless Zimbabwean bank notes. A trillion Zimbabwean dollars can’t buy you any advertising, it can’t even buy you the paper to print your message on, so you might as well turn the money into your advertising.
Trillion dollar flyers and posters
A trillion dollar hand-out. To highlight the plight of Zimbabwe and the cause of the ‘Zimbabwean Newspaper’ we handed out trillions of dollars of worthless Zimbabwean money stamped with provocative messages and a call for support for the Zimbabwean newspaper, we also turned the money into giant posters, with trillion dollar tear-offs.
"Cholera, poverty, starvation and total economic collapse. It is for reporting on these things over the past five years that Zimbabwean journalists have been exiled. A group of these journalists, now based around the world, have come together to produce a newspaper called The Zimbabwean. Published in South Africa and sold here, in the UK and in Zimbabwe itself,The Zimbabwean newspaper and its staff have been persecuted by the Mugabe regime. Unable to stop the paper entering Zimbabwe, the ZANU regime targets it with a duty. It’s the only ‘foreign’ paper that has its price doubled as it crosses the border. For impoverished Zimbabweans, the heavy duty on the paper makes it unaffordable. To get the paper into their hands, The Zimbabwean realised they would have to sell many more papers in South Africa. But most South Africans are already tired of hearing about bad news from our northern neighbour. The challenge was to bring them face to face with the problem. The huge denominations of worthless Zimbabwean currency are a poignant symbol of the country’s ruined economy as well as the hardships ordinary Zimbabweans face each day. The Zimbabwean newspaper has launched a campaign in which these horrific banknotes literally carry the message. Originally printed with pictures of a once-beautiful and prosperous country, the Zimbabwean has added its message: it’s now cheaper to print on money than paper.
Flyers, posters, murals and billboards- all composed of trillions and trillions of worthless Zimbabwean currency- are making their way around the city of Johannesburg this week. For once, this currency has a purpose: To highlight the ongoing crisis that faces the people of Zimbabwe, and to promote the freedom of the press that will help."
