This is one of the artists that I really do love, I have one of his pieces sitting on the dinning room table right now. I picked up one of his pieces last year at Talbott.

Rick Garnett started his glass artist career working with his brother-in-law, working out of his garage and eventually went to Kechi and built a studio there. Just in November 2006 he has opened his own glass studio in the small town of Buhler, KS. Having no art back ground, Rick found this learning process of glass a wonderful challenge.

Rick has been making glass art for nineteen years. He has gone to Hutchinson Community College to further his creativity by taking several sculptural classes. He also had some additional training in a glass school in Corning, New York. Rick is always looking for new and different ideas for creating new projects in glass.

Rick travels to show his work throughout the United States. He also has pieces in several galleries. He has received awards at the many shows he has attended. Rick hopes that his success with glass will continue and many more awards will follow.

Rick has been experimenting with another medium in the art world. He has made several stone sculpture pieces. He recently entered the Atlantic Coast Sculpture Guild contest and won Honorable Mention for a stone sculpture piece he submitted. It is toured with other winners up and down the East Coast in varies art museums. We do know one of the stops was the Smithsonian Museum of Art.

Currently, Rick lives in Hutchinson, Kansas with his wife and two children. Rick enjoys learning and experimenting in making new sculptural pieces for many to enjoy for years down the road.
