Why Me?

My buddy Dodge over at MOKB pointed me to these oh so sweet watches today. Nooka watches are the brainchild of artist and designer, Matthew Waldman. The linear and graphic representation of time with Nooka timepieces presents a more intuitive way to view time. The visual mass increases as time passes, giving weight to an ephemeral and abstract concept. Nooka has an large collection of watches anywhere from $140 to $3000 and above. They really remind me of all the tokyoflash watches, with a bit more class.

The watch above is the Zon MR, you can get it over at the Nooka site for $650. There is a bit more about the watch below, and a link to the company website below that, check out the site it is really well designed and very clean looking.

"Nooka proudly presents the Nooka zon- our newest and most exclusive timepiece to date. The zon features a dual display. One display measures time much like an hour- glass, where each minute of the day is marked by a small block falling into place on the display. The second display provides a digital time reading. Portugal based industrial designer Nuno Teixeira's equinox watch is just a spectacular bit of design. I know if this was actually developed and produced it would be horribly expensive, but i would love to have it.

The Equinox represents the exact time when the Sun is positioned directly over the Earth's equator. The two low relief semi spherical displays represents the Sun (hours) and the earth (minutes). Equinox also represents the classic and the modern aesthetics put together."

Designer Crispin Jones has updated his Mr. Jones line of watches with his series two line. He has produced 5 new watches, including this one called "The Average Day." Great packaging to go with a very well designed watch, I really love it when designers take the time to add great packaging to a well designed product.

This watch eschews the conventional division of a day into 24 hours, instead it divides into units of median daily routine. The dial shows a breakdown of what average people do on an average day, so you’re able to see what you yourself should - on average - be doing at any time. The outer loop on the dial represents the AM and the inner loop the PM.

Anyone want to buy me this watch from Hysek? Come on it is only $550,000, you know you want to get it for me. The "COLOSSO" is an extremely complicated watch, the three dimensional earth at 12 O'Clock turns on itself in 24 hours and can be set at the local time or at the GMT time.

The precious minute repeater mechanism is set in an extraordinary complicated case, this mechanism transforms by request the intangible hours, quarters and minutes in a crystal sound thanks to two cathedral timbres. The transparency of the case reveals very technical pieces which will fascinate the amateurs of pure mechanic. The COLOSSO also presents a big date and a power reserve. the watch will be produced in limited series in rose gold and white gold.

Limited Edition Snake - Titanium
Philippe Starke is a crazy good watch designer, you can check out a lot of his designs on the fossil website. I absolutely love this limited edition run of his Snake design, hint hint my birthday is coming up. The way it attaches is very nicely done, making it look like there is no clasping mechanism at all. Also if you get a chance check out his Veiled ladies watch, the hands look like they are actually under the metal band, very nice.
