Ayami Kawashima

Posted by tb4

L.A. based painter Ayami Kawashima is currently showing at 88Point5. The pieces are all right around $250. Check them all out at 88point5.com.

Ayami Kawashima is a Japanese painter from Tokyo and a current senior student at OTIS College of Art and Design.

Ayami began learning classical ballet at the age of three, and studied abroad at a notorious art school in Boston as a ballet major from fourteen. She went through a succession of injuries and surgeries, and a particular painting of a ballet dancer that was created during her rehabilitation was highly appraised by the principal of OTIS, which led to her admission to the school.

On 2009, Ayami's work was exhibited at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery and 1988 Gallery. She worked as an intern at Beacon Communications, a well known advertisement company, and at American Greetings.

This collection of paintings is mainly constructed with the portrayal of hardships and emotion in the lives of ballet dancers through the confrontations with original characters.
