This ad is clearly saying we devote an assload of our mindshare to worrying about terrorism, but the number of deaths from terrorism are dwarved by tobacco-related deaths. It follows, therefore, that we should really be thinking way more about these far, FAR more common causes of death. In fact this would be a great AIDs ad. Or anti-poverty ad. Or, hell, let's point out that as many innocent Iraqis die every NINE DAYS as a result of the pointless conflict as died in the 2001 attacks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35052804.post-26910166066361113722008-03-05T06:48:00.000-05:002008-03-05T06:48:00.000-05:00This is almost an exact duplicate of an ad that ra...This is almost an exact duplicate of an ad that ran a year ago!!!

http://copyranter.blogspot.com/2007/09/ashes-to-ashes.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35052804.post-54112047623649795812008-03-04T19:19:00.000-05:002008-03-04T19:19:00.000-05:00tobacco companies are not mass murderers. thats th...tobacco companies are not mass murderers. thats the entire issue. nobody thinks that smoking is good for them and tobacco companies are required to state explicitly that they are not good for people and cause death. its up to the individual to decide whether he/she is willing to take the risk for the reward. 911 blindsided innocent people while smokers consciously choose to partake in a dangerous activity. this is by far the most ridiculous ant smoking ad i have ever seen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35052804.post-52062610653888220582008-03-04T15:11:00.000-05:002008-03-04T15:11:00.000-05:00the holocaust and AIDS are not comparable to the t...the holocaust and AIDS are not comparable to the twin towers and tobacco, bud. i agree that it's questionable, but AIDS isn't backed by a bevy of multi-billion dollar marketing and legal campaigns.

i'd also call into some serious question the relationship you're drawing between genocide and a terrorist attack.

i think that's intended here a question of priorities and who represent the real mass-murderers in the world today.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35052804.post-68306029587507851342008-03-04T14:24:00.000-05:002008-03-04T14:24:00.000-05:00that is one of the most offensive advertisements i...that is one of the most offensive advertisements i have ever seen. this would not fly in the US. How about showing a holocaust victim and comparing it to the devastation of the aids virus. it would make about as much sense. this is another example of the anti-tobacco crowd overstepping their bounds massively.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
