The ad agency of Forsman & Bodenfors, out of Sweeden, have put together some rather striking and haunting advertisements for a new children's helpline called BRIS. The text at the bottom of the ad says “Thousand of children can’t be reached. Help us receive more calls.” Very nicely done.

Seiko Discus Watch

Posted by tb4

Very cool watch from Seiko, when I think of Seiko I normally think of those little plastic watches I used to wear as a kid. This watch is very innovative in the way it tells time, with discs constantly spinning to show you what time it is. The Discus is part of Seiko’s Moving Image series, a line of automatic timepieces with decidedly contemporary styling. It’s available in two versions: one with a stainless body and white face, and another with a black metal body and a smoked glass face. Beautiful watch and a fantastic design, to bad it isn't available in the U.S.

Designed in 1903 by Thomas Lee, this chair was patented by his friend and manufacturer, Harry Bunnell, in 1905. These Westport chairs are the basis and original design for the modern adirondack chairs. They recently sold at an auction for $6,600, now that is an expensive chair.

Chazelles fireplaces

Posted by tb4

When I see designs like these for a fireplace it makes me really wish I had one at my place. But what are you gonna do, well I guess you could knock a hole in the wall and build a chimney and put one of these in, but that is a lot of work and wont ever happen. Go check out the rest of the designs for the Chazelles fireplaces.

Ross McBride

Posted by tb4

Designer Ross McBride has presented a set of new time pieces for normal watches. The design of the "extra normal watch" is fantastic, I love how you can only see the numbers when the hour hand passes by.

Ross McBride was born in the Northeastern United States in 1962. He earned his bachelor's degree in graphic design from the California Institute of the Arts, and upon graduation in 1985, promptly moved to Tokyo where he has lived ever since.

Upon arriving in Japan, Ross furthered his graphic design studies as a research student at Japan University (Nippon Daigaku). He later worked in several design offices, including Igarashi Studio under the auspices of Takenobu Igarashi. In 1991, Ross establish his own graphic design practice.

Gradually, Ross became more interested in product, and furniture design. In 1997 he initiated a move in this direction with his first public exhibition, "12 Timepieces", at the Ozone Gallery in Shinjuku, Tokyo. In January 2000, Normal Y.K. was established in order to manage Ross' product, furniture, and interior projects.

Ross has exhibited at 100% Design London, Salone Satellite in Milan, ICFF New York, and Tokyo Designers Block where he won the Frame TDB Award 2003 for best installation design. He has worked on projects for Duende, E&Y, Max Ray, Starbucks Japan, Water Studio, Sharp, Sony, World Co. Ltd., and currently serves as a panel member of 100% Design Tokyo.

A few spectacular works from designer/architect Oscar Niemeyer

Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho, born December 15, 1907, is a Brazilian architect who is considered one of the most important names in international modern architecture. He was a pioneer in the exploration of the constructive possibilities of reinforced concrete.

His buildings are often characterized by being spacious and exposed, mixing volumes and empty space to create unconventional patterns and often propped up by pilotis. Both lauded and criticized for being a "sculptor of monuments", his most famous design, the plan for the city of Brasilia, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As stunning today as it was when it was first designed by Joaquim Tenreiro back in 1969. You had better have a huge space to put this in because it is a little over 16 feet long.

Not that this is a horribly innovative design by todays standards, but back in 1984 when this was first made I'm sure the curved shelving idea was a bit of a forward thinking design. I really think by itself it isn't that interesting of a piece, but if you would put a few of them together to fill a wall they would look awesome.

Quick someone give me $9,000, I need this desk. So I don't really need it but come on this desk is beautiful, it would be an absolute pleasure to do my work on this desk. Another plus this desk, by John Wiggers, is that it is made out of completely sustainable woods, so you don't have to worry about anyone clear cutting a forest to make this desk for you.

Quattro Valvole watch

Posted by tb4

The Quattro Valvole watch by Meccaniche Veloci is inspired by the 1984 Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS Quattrovalvole. Very nicely designed watch with clean lines, but really who needs to know what time it is in four different time zones. I guess if you can drop $5,500 on a watch you can know what time it is wherever you want.

Another of Mr. Jones Watches

Posted by tb4

"Over time The Mantra makes the arrogant person more humble and makes the humble more confident." I think that saying sums this watch up pretty well. Each hour has both a positive and negative mantra to live by. If you live by this watch it will ensure that you are neither to full of yourself or to down on yourself, plus it is a pretty cool design.

Charles & Ray Eames

Posted by tb4

First designed back in 1945, the eames plywood elephant, is made from molding plywood into a three dimensional shape. This was re-issued by Vitra to celebrate the 100th birthday of Charles Eames, in a very limited number of 1000 elephants world wide. Very cool little elephant, but you had better have some money to get this for your little one, each one is going for just about $2000.
